On Monday night, the Brewers faced the Dodgers in what was a fantastic 4-0 win for the Brewers. The highlight of the game was by far the pitching performance displayed.
Eric Lauer has been up and down this year with a 3.44 ERA and a 9-5 win-loss record. A bit of it can be contributed to the need to push more since the offense hasn’t been much help. Last night, Lauer threw 98 pitches in 5 innings of work giving up 5 hits and no runs. A solo homer by Urias in the fourth inning was enough to give Lauer credit for the win as the bullpen hung on.
Craig Counsell praised Lauer and said he was happy with the last couple starts he has been got out of him. He also praised the bullpen and Peter Strzelecki for his hold.
One of the best moments of the night, however, came from the Dodgers manager Dave Roberts. Roberts took the podium after the game for media availability and talked about some key points he saw. He only made himself available for about 10 minutes or so but he opened with his thoughts on starter Julio Urias, who gave up one run in 6 innings. He also spoke about the comeback of Brusdar Graterol, who only pitched one inning last night striking out two.
Dave Roberts spoke about one person in particular that was interesting. He spoke about Lauer and how the Dodgers have struggled to crack the code against him. He didn’t say he expected this to happen, but he said “The results, versus Lauer, they happened.” which most likely points to the fact that Lauer has had a ton of success against the Dodgers. He has only had one start out of the last five where he gave up more than two runs. Along with that, he also has consistently pitched deep into games against the Dodgers.
Dave Roberts on the #Dodgers struggles against Eric Lauer:
"I don't know the answer. I think he's evolved as a pitcher… But the results, us versus Lauer, happened. We just can't crack the code. So you got to give him credit. He's pitched us well, and did again tonight."

Lauer clearly has their number and Dave Roberts thinks so as well. “We just can’t crack the code against him”, Robert went on to say.
