Rangers Want 'Obnoxiously Loud' Fans at Home

The Texas Rangers are on a historic run and their fans have barely had a chance to cheer them on.

Rangers players hope that changes Wednesday night.

The Rangers return to Globe Life Field for only the second time during their postseason run when they host the Houston Astros for Game 3 of the American League Championship Series at 7:03 p.m. Wednesday.

"I think the game we saw in Philly [Monday night], I want something like that where it’s deafening almost from the start to the end," Rangers reliever Josh Sborz said. "Just obnoxiously loud."

Phillies fans have been lauded for their enthusiasm during six playoff games at Citizens Bank Park, including wins over the Arizona Diamondbacks in the first two games of the NLCS. Meanwhile, the Rangers have been on the road for most of their postseason heroics. And they've been so good — a perfect 7-0 — that they've only played one playoff game in Arlington, their ALDS-clinching win over the Baltimore Orioles on Oct. 10.

"It feels like the Phillies play every game at home," Rangers first baseman Nathaniel Lowe joked. "There are different paths to get where we want to be. We’ve had to fight on the road and we’ve gotten great road support from our fans too. It felt like there was a large Rangers presence in Houston. But, now, playing in front of the home crowd is going to be great."

How loud have Phillies fans been? The Philadelphia Inquirer measured a peak of 112 decibels during the team's NLDS-clinching win last week against the Atlanta Braves.

Lowe echoed Sborz's sentiments for Game 3 in Arlington.

"They’ve got a good thing going on up there," he said. "The home team support in Philly looks really cool but it’s time to let our fans have their shot."
